Who knew that magic would be so enthralling? I mean of course I knew it would be interesting, it is magic for goodness sake, but I didn't realize just how interesting this would be. Who would have thought that the history-hater would now take books out from the library for interest's sake on historical figures?! But even the most boring of subjects (like A History of Magic. That one is actually taught by a ghost!), would actually prove to be most fascinating than the most interesting of subjects in elementary school?
Also, the food here is delicious. There is unlimited food, and there is something for everyone to enjoy, no matter how picky they are! It makes me so happy to see that there are healthy options. I was worried that there wouldn't be and I would be stuck eating junk food, like at summer camp.
Oh! And our dormitories! They are super cool. So everyone is separated into different houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin (I'm in Hufflepuff - but only because I asked. The sorting hat nearly put me in Ravenclaw). Each of the houses has a tower, where the students have a common room and dorms and stuff. So ours is hidden behind this painting, and you need to tell her the password to get in. She talks! All the paintings here move and stuff! Anyways, I digress. In the Gryffindor common room, it's really cozy, lots of couches, tables, and rugs. But one of the coolest features I think is that the boys can't get into the girl's dormitory. Apparently, the stairs turn into a slide if someone tries! I would really love to see that happen.
Anyways, I believe that is all for now, I actually have a ton of homework to do. They certainly don't go easy on students here!

Stepping In
This world is so cool! I cannot believe that I, Hermione Granger, a girl with dentists (the most BORING career) as parents, is a witch! It is crazy that there is an entire world of magic and mystery hidden in plain view.
There are so many new things to learn! Buying textbooks and stuff isn't like I am used to, you can't just go to Office Outlet, to get your school supplies, there is an entire street (that is hidden from regular Londoners) full of things you are required to purchase for school. And textbooks! I wasn't expecting to buy my own until university, but I don't entirely mind, because they are all so interesting. I mean, who knew that there was so many spells? Spells from cleaning up a mess, all the way to grievously injuring someone, and I'm sure there is a spell for killing people, but I haven't gotten there yet if there is.
Another thing, who knew that owls were so reliable with the post! I know that carrier pigeons were often used during ancient times, but they never seemed to be all that reliable, or so Mr. Jackson always said. This whole world is just so weird, and cool. I am in awe of everything. I feel really silly wandering around just looking at everything, but what else can I do? This is like Alton Towers, but people actually live here! It is so much to take in all at once.
I am super excited to start at this new school. I am hoping that I will fit in alright, not being raised in a magical family and all. I'm hoping that it goes a little better than elementary school, where I just stuck out like a sore thumb, simply because I enjoy doing a good job on my work. Perhaps a fresh start will allow me to make some new friends. It is kind of curious, this house system that they use. All the students are sorted into one of four houses on their very first night of arriving at school! I am hoping that we won't be expected to show off any spells or anything to determine our house, because I really don't have any practical experience with this.
Anyway, I hope that I have prepared for the first year enough. I am pretty sure I have everything on the required items list, I've checked and double checked a bunch of times. And I have read most of our textbooks. I couldn't quite finish them all before school, but maybe I'll have time when I get there. I suppose I will find out tomorrow when I get to school!
