Well, here we are, back again for year 2 of Hogwarts. It was a fairly uneventful summer, to be honest.
This year has certainly started off with a bang though...Or with Harry and Ron not getting on the train!
I waited for them on the platform for ages, and they weren't there. Well actually, no one from the Weasley family was, so I went on through the barrier and decided to wait for them there. I waited for AGES, and the train was about to leave when Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny came bursting through the barrier and hurried onto the train. I looked intently, assuming that Harry and Ron would be right behind. But they weren't! Mrs. Weasley looked distraught, and of course, I was so worried.
The train began to pull out from the station, and I sat down miserably. This was going to be a terrible year if Harry and Ron couldn't be there. What if they got expelled? Then I would be miserable for the rest of my time at Hogwarts!
That was the worst train ride of my life. I was miserable and didn't want to talk to anyone.
Once we arrived at the platform, we boarded carriages (pulled by...nothing...) and rode up to the school. I half hoped that Harry and Ron would be waiting there, that by some miraculous chance they got here somehow, but alas, I sat with no one really during the sorting, although Ginny tried to keep me company. Then, halfway through dinner, who showed up? No one other than Harry and Ron! Dripping wet and looking a bit bashed up, they hurried over and explained how the barrier had closed, and they drove Mr. Weasley's flying car here and it crash-landed in the Whomping Willow. I was certainly glad that they were alright and everything, but seriously. Boys are so stupid sometimes.
Oh!! One other important thing...Gilderoy Lockhart is teaching us this year. I can't believe that we actually get to learn from him! He is just so...dreamy! And he has done so many impressive things, I just can't believe he has done them all. He must be so terribly brave. I am so glad the Dumbledore managed to get us a good Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, one with some real experience. I certainly think anyone would be an improvement over a teacher with He Who Must Not Be Named stuck on the back of his head.

He Who Must Not Be Named
This past week has been a crazy whirlwind. I cannot believe what has happened. So, one day we were in detention in the Forbidden Forest (it is crazy that detentions take place somewhere that we are not supposed to be), and we were looking for someone who had been killing unicorns. So we were wandering around with Hagrid, and all of a sudden we spy a unicorn with someone drinking its blood! It was HORRIBLE! Then this guy comes towards Harry and apparently a centaur rescued him from the man (I was with Hagrid, whereas Harry was with Fang and Malfoy). The centaur also told Harry that it was He Who Must Not Be Named who was killing unicorns! Can you believe it! Him! In Hogwarts! Anyways, this of course has made Harry completely obsessed, because now we have determined (with the centaurs help of course) that He Who Must Not Be Named is after the Philosopher's Stone! Harry has this crazy idea in his mind now that he is going to go and get the stone. I can't leave him to do that alone, he would probably be killed, so I (reluctantly) agreed to go with him.
So off on a supremely dangerous quest we went. Why I agreed to go, I will never know. Honestly what was going though my mind?! Anyways, the 3 of us set off, and thankfully Harid is terrible at keeping secrets, so we knew how to make Fluffy go to sleep. The only troubling thing was...Fluffy was already asleep when we went through the door. So we knew that someone was down there. We all hopped through the trapdoor, and landed in Devil's Snare. That was terrifying, because no one knew what it was, and it began to strangle all of us, and if you fight it it only gets tighter, so struggling only made it worse. Honestly, thank goodness I agreed to along, because Harry couldn't remember how to fight it, and Ron was in a full-blown panic attack. I mean, I did momentarily forget that I could conjure fire, but at least I knew what Devil's Snare is afraid of!!
Next, we faced a very bizarre puzzle. We walked into a room filled with hundreds of flying keys. Harry Ron and I looked at each other because we didn't know what on earth we were supposed to do, but then Harry noted that the door across the room was locked, and surely we needed to choose the right key to open the door. This proved more difficult that originally thought, as we had to catch the key off a broomstick and make sure the other keys didn't attack us! Good thing that Harry is a Seeker!! Once we finally got through the door we came upon another strange sight. A giant chess board sat in front of us. Ron tried to make the pieces do his bidding, as he is surprisingly good at Wizard chess, but to no avail. He then came to the conclusion that perhaps we had to take the place of one of the pieces. Now, if know anything about Wizard chess, you will know that it is quite dangerous, and the pieces get all banged up and bent out of shape, so taking the place of some of the pieces is quite the scary proposition. But we did it, with Ron's guidance. He had to sacrifice himself, and did so willingly despite the fact that he was very battered and bruised due to that.
After the game, we had to leave the injured Ron, and head through the next door. This one facing us was a riddle. I really enjoy riddles so it wasn't really a big deal for me to figure it out. I chose the correct potion, and ushered Harry through the magical fire as I returned through the other side to go see Ron and get some help for Harry.
As I rushed back to Ron, he was barely conscious. I half-carried, half-dragged him through the room with the keys, and then when we returned to the Devil's Snare is when I was not sure what to do. You see, we fell down the hole...How was I supposed to get back up...And if I did, would Fluffy still be sleeping?
What we failed to notice on our way down was that there was a ladder carved into the side of the shaft we fell down. Fortunately for Ron, I was the only one in the class to perfect Wingardium Leviosa, as that is how I got him back up the shaft. Turns out Fluffy was still sleeping so I quickly dragged Ron over to the flute and staryed making noise with that to ensure Fluffy stayed that way! After I made it to the hallway, I left Ron sitting by the wall, and ran to find Professor McGonagall. As I raced down the corridor, I met Dumbledore, who was running towards me. As I tried to rush an explanation out to him, he simply waved me off and hurried through the door. I still went to find the Professor, as I wasn't sure what else to do. She was quite alarmed when I told her, but told me not to worry, that everything would work out, and why didn't we tend to Ron. Thank goodness for her, otherwise I might have gone crazy!!
Anyway, turns out that Harry actually met He Who Must Not Be Named who was fused onto the back of Professor Quirrel's head! There are so many crazy things that happen here. I am just glad that everything works out for the best, and everyone is okay. Well...Professor Quirrel isn't but I mean all my friends.

The Troll and the Dragon Egg
What an eventful few months it has been! We have learnt so much in such a short time, I can't believe that we are going to have to know all of this stuff for an exam! That is crazy!
There are two major events that have happened here in my short time already!
On Halloween night, a troll got into the castle! I was upset, because I had been viciously bullied earlier, and was hanging out with Moaning Myrtle, another ghost in the school, and all of a sudden I hear this great crash! I peeked out from under a stall and saw these GIANT, gross, green feet outside. And then he roared. Let me tell you that a troll yell is one of the most terrifying noises a person can hear. I was absolutely terrified. It was smashing things, and I couldn't see it, so I thought I should open the door, and when I did, I came face to face with its leg. Trolls are revolting, I have to say. I quietly snuck to the back wall, which, in retrospect wasn't very smart, but it was the furthest sport from the troll. I thought maybe it'd had enough, and was gong to stop yelling and smashing things, but it must have heard me and it swung around. I couldn't think. I was frozen. It was coming towards me brandishing its club, smashing sinks off the wall. Then I heard a very familiar voice yell "Oy, pea-brain!" and I saw those two nitwits Harry and Ron come in. What did they think they were doing?
Honestly, everything else from then on is a blur. I don't really remember much else. But no one died, so it must've been okay. Also, this incident sort of solidified a friendship between Harry, Ron and I. If you get to know them a little bit, they're actually pretty nice guys. We also got to become pretty good friends with Hagrid, the groundskeeper. He is a massive man, with lots of shaggy hair, and he is the reason the second major event happened.
So, Hagrid is a lover of all creatures. Most of them are wacky, decidedly dangerous creatures, but the man seems to love them. So, the three of us go to visit him one night, and there is this giant egg on the fire. We get around to it, and ask what it is, and turns out...Hagrid has a dragon egg...
I swear that man is crazy sometimes. Who thinks it is a good idea to keep a dragon egg until it hatches and then want to raise it as his own child??! Dragons are dangerous! Honestly, that man!
Anyway, Hagrid kept the egg until it hatched, and then decided to name it Norbert. At least if you are going to have a dragon, call it something scarier than Norbert! But, Norbert it was. Then Norbert grew. And he grew, and grew and grew! Dragons are massive creatures, if you were unaware. Eventually Harry, Ron and I stopped going to see Hagrid because Norbert was too terrifying and dangerous. We told Hagrid that Norbert needed to leave, and that if we wrote Ron's brother we were sure he would look after him. Hagrid thought about it for a long while and then decided we were right (Thank goodness!!). So the three of us had to sneak a dragon in a crate up to the top of the highest tower at Hogwarts at midnight! You are not supposed to be out of your dorms that late!! But it needed to be done, so do it we did. We won't discuss what happened after...
I hope events settle down a little here! I would like to have a calm second to give a thought about school once in a while, you know?
