Ugh...Boys!

Well, here we are, back again for year 2 of Hogwarts. It was a fairly uneventful summer, to be honest.

This year has certainly started off with a bang though...Or with Harry and Ron not getting on the train!

I waited for them on the platform for ages, and they weren't there. Well actually, no one from the Weasley family was, so I went on through the barrier and decided to wait for them there. I waited for AGES, and the train was about to leave when Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny came bursting through the barrier and hurried onto the train. I looked intently, assuming that Harry and Ron would be right behind. But they weren't! Mrs. Weasley looked distraught, and of course, I was so worried.

The train began to pull out from the station, and I sat down miserably. This was going to be a terrible year if Harry and Ron couldn't be there. What if they got expelled? Then I would be miserable for the rest of my time at Hogwarts!

That was the worst train ride of my life. I was miserable and didn't want to talk to anyone.

Once we arrived at the platform, we boarded carriages (pulled by...nothing...) and rode up to the school. I half hoped that Harry and Ron would be waiting there, that by some miraculous chance they got here somehow, but alas, I sat with no one really during the sorting, although Ginny tried to keep me company. Then, halfway through dinner, who showed up? No one other than Harry and Ron! Dripping wet and looking a bit bashed up, they hurried over and explained how the barrier had closed, and they drove Mr. Weasley's flying car here and it crash-landed in the Whomping Willow. I was certainly glad that they were alright and everything, but seriously. Boys are so stupid sometimes.

Oh!! One other important thing...Gilderoy Lockhart is teaching us this year. I can't believe that we actually get to learn from him! He is just so...dreamy! And he has done so many impressive things, I just can't believe he has done them all. He must be so terribly brave. I am so glad the Dumbledore managed to get us a good Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, one with some real experience. I certainly think anyone would be an improvement over a teacher with He Who Must Not Be Named stuck on the back of his head.
